The Dantewada Maoist attack killed ten police personnel. Fresh visuals continue to emerge of the attack, carried out with an IED, followed by the firing of guns from the cops and the Maoists. This is the bigger Maoist attack in Chhattisgarh in two years. The last five years have witnessed 119 police personnel killed by Maoists in Chhatisgarh. While Maoist history is complex, we must take a moment to understand the present and discuss what needs to be done to ensure a complete wipeout of Maoist violence from India.
