New Delhi, Apr 29: Over the past couple of months, several hints have been dropped about the implementation of the Uniform Civicl Code (UCC).
Chief Ministers of Uttarakhand and Himachal Pradesh, Pushkar Dhami and Jai Ram Thakur have backed UCC. Union Home Minister Amit Shah last week had spoken about the need to focus on a Common Civil Code. He made the remarks at a core committee meeting of the BJP in Bhopal.
The lone Muslim minister in the Yogi Adityanath government in Uttar Pradesh, Danish Azad Ansari is planning to organise ‘Quami Chaupals’ in the state to convice the Muslims to get on board with the UCC. This is a clear sign that the BJP is working towards introducing the UCC.
