Behind the scenes: How India undertook an impossible evacuation drive from Sumy


New Delhi, Mar 09: Amidst the ongoing conflict in Ukraine, India faced a Herculean task in evacuating its nationals, especially students. India had back to back diplomatic engagements with Russia and Ukraine and on Tuesday all the Indian nationals stranded at Sumy in eastern Ukraine were evacuated.

The journey for the 700 students was not an easy one. They travelled around 175 kilometres in buses and reached Poltava, which has has not been affected by the ongoing conflict.
